Activities in Innsbruck

Innsbruck is also renowned as being the main sports town in Austria and accordingly is suitable for all kinds of sports. The mountains do of course have a key role to play in this. In the warmer months there are activities like mountain biking, road biking, running, mountaineering, climbing and hiking. As soon as the first snow starts to lie, the low mountains and the alpine terrain are taken over by sleds, skis and snow-shoes. Even with so much focus on sport there is still time left over for culture, film, dance and music festivals. Concerts, cabarets and exhibitions mean leisure time in the city is vibrant. Numerous Cafes, bars and restaurants will leave your taste-buds wanting for nothing. The brisk nightlife is enhanced by over 30,000 students. They keep the city going until the wee small hours of the morning. A smart leisure companion in Innsbruck is the Innsbruck Card, thanks to its extensive offers. Prices start at 39 Euro and is valid between 24 and 72 hours, depending on the card you get. Children aged between 6 and 14 get a 50 % discount. It enables you to enjoy the city in all its variety. From a sightseeing tour to the key sights, to lots of visits to museums to cable car journeys to the loveliest mountain summits in and around Innsbruck.

A perfect day in Innsbruck

Head up in the Hungerburgbahn and the Seegrubenbahn to the impressive Nordkette. There on the terrace of the Seegrube you get to enjoy the impressive panoramic views over coffee and cake. Continue by cable car up to the Hafelekarspitze. After a 15 minute walk up to 2300 metres altitude you get to soak up the summit atmosphere. Back into the valley again on the hop-on, hop-off bus ‘Sightseer Innsbruck’ to explore the sights in the city. From the Hofburg across the Tyrol panorama to Ambras Castle. Depending on how the mood takes you can get out at a few of your preferred places and spend a bit of time there. Another bus will definitely come along. After a tour of the city in the shuttle bus pay a visit to Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens. Back to Innsbruck and head out on a walk around the city with a city guide and find out interesting information and the history of the city, the country and the people. Then in the evening enjoy Tyrolean specialities and, reinvigorating, dive into the vibrant nightlife.
